"That’s why you get a dog or a parrot" Aiden said with a shrug, trying to not make her feel so bad about the fish dying. "C’mon, you have to admit it looks cool" he groaned, disappointed that she didn’t at least think it was cool
"You got me wrong. My horses usually died after a few days.", she corrected him. "And dogs are disgusting, remember?", she said with a shrug. The vampire kept looking at the water. "I have already seen more impressive things."
"You’re also immortal, animals can’t live forever" Aiden reminded her. "Yes actually, thank you" he said, shaking his head as he watched the ripples change the water’s color, which was the whole point in her throwing in the penny, to cause the reaction in the water.
"I know… but they should live longer than five days… or five hours.", she whispered the last part, raising her eyebrows for a moment. Rebekah rolled with her eyes and looked at the water.
"Just humor me, Rebekah. You don’t have to tell me. It could be for a goldfish or for this date to be over, I don’t care. Just think of a wish and throw the damn penny in the fountain" Aiden said, shaking his head at the instant attitude he was getting. But he did smile, he smiled at the smile he got when he quoted her.
"Animals are no good idea… somehow they always died…", she said, nodding slowly. Rebekah sigh and threw the damn penny into the damn fountain. "Happy now?", she asked him, with raised eyebrows.
"Well I don’t think you are, but I’m just a stupid mutt, right? What do I know?" Aiden said, brushing away her comment. He really didn’t think she was a bad person, that there was a lot to her that people didn’t know about. "I’m sure there’s something you want that you don’t have, just humor me, ok?" Aiden asked with a slight sigh, getting tired of her overriding every semi romantic gesture he made.
"True.", she said, trying to stop herself from smiling, what didn’t really work. The blonde rolled with her eyes. He didn’t really expect her to tell him what she wanted but couldn’t have, did he? "No, I get what I want and even if not, I may believed in a lot of stupid stuff, but never in something like this."
"I might have killed for sport, but they were all bad people, and you’re not a bad person. Alphas have more control than you’re giving me credit for" Aiden said, trying to reassure her. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a shiny penny and handed it to her. "Make a wish" Aiden said, gesturing to the fountain.
Rebekah began to laugh when he said she wasn’t a bad person. “I killed plenty of people, innocent people, just because I was bored. In fact, my family and I killed often so many people, that they started believing that it was an epidemic was killing all these people in a horrible way.”, she explained him, Rebekah almost sounded proud on that. “Yeah… I’m a white privileged, rich girl… I don’t think there is much I could wish for.”
"I know you’re a queen" Aiden said quietly, looking down at Rebekah. "If I had completely wolfed out, I still wouldn’t have hurt you, you know" he added, leaning down to kiss her cheek to reassure her.
"Sure you wouldn’t…", Rebekah said quietly, not really buying it. She watched his movement. The blonde shook her head and looked around. "So… what are we going to do now… just stand here?"
"You already are a little princess" Aiden said with a sincere laugh. He looked down at the woman in front of him and tilted his head slightly. "If I hadn’t calmed down, you would be seeing a full blown Alpha in front of you, not some guy that has no idea what he’s doing" Aiden pointed out
"I am not a princess..", Rebekah said, leaning forward. "I’m a queen.", she pointed out with a smugly smile on her lips “… then you would be dead.”, she corrected him.
"Am I asking you to be proud?" Aiden asked annoyed. "I don’t know Rebekah, look around, enjoy the fountain" he said with a shrug, almost annoyed at the tone she was giving him, but his body was too tired to fight over nothing.
"Just a little hint, at our next date I should be the one who behaves like a little princess.", she said, at least a bit joking. Rebekah walked toward him, till she was standing just inches away from Aiden. "I kinda have the feeling you didn’t really calm down yet."
"Yeah, I know that" Aiden said shortly, knowing Rebekah had become his anchor as soon as she had touched him. "I’m alright, see nothing looks wolfy" he said, turning around to look at her, showing her his hands, face and teeth
"Am I supposed to be proud on you now?", she asked with raised eyebrows. The blonde mad a step toward him. "So, what now?"
"It was because I didn’t have anything to concentrate on, Rebekah. I just needed to calm down and concentrate on something" Aiden explained. He stood up and ran his hand over his head. "It could have happened a ton of times before, but it didn’t. You just get in a groove and go into some dark place and don’t come out" he said quietly.
"Then you should find something to concentrate on faster.", Rebekah noticed. The blonde watched him for a moment, her arms crossed in front of her chest. "Are you alright again?", she asked, almost sounding worried.
